¡Reimagine Yourself! Intro

My invitation to you…

Hello friend,

I’m very excited for you because I know that as you are reading these words, you are now in possession of something truly magical!

This program includes 12 Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lessons (ATMs) and the accompanying enrichment materials of this text. Each ATM is a unique guided movement experience that will reveal new elements of yourself that you never knew before.

(This is true whether you are already a skilled practitioner of the movement arts or if  you’re investigating what your body is capable of for the first time.)

The additional materials provided here were developed based on my firm belief that movement is a metaphor for everything else we do in life, including our thoughts, our emotions, and the way we connect to other people.

When I first found the Feldenkrais Method, I quickly noticed that it affected much more than just my physical experience of my moving body. Not only did I improve the use of my muscles and joints – each new ATM I did also produced new feelings of confidence, creativity and comfort in my own skin.

Still, it took me some time to understand how to apply what I was learning through the vehicle of movement to other “non-movement” parts of my life.

My hope is that this text will help you to make those connections more quickly.

I firmly believe that with good use of this additional resource, you can get exponentially greater results from this program than if you were to only follow the audio lessons.

So . . .

Are you ready to reimagine yourself?

I ask the question because the intention you bring with you will absolutely impact the outcomes you get from this program . . .

While many people “wish things could be different”, that’s not the same as being ready to engage in self-inquiry to deliberately open the door to transformational change.

For things to really shift in your life, you have to be willing to try things you’ve never done before, reexamine long held habits and beliefs, take chances, make mistakes – and keep going even when things get a bit uncomfortable.

Luckily for you, this  program is specifically designed to guide you through those kinds of experiences. You can proceed at whatever pace is most comfortable to you and still make real and lasting changes.

A quick look at the contents of this ebook will help to give you a lay of the land:

  • Following this message, you will find an outline of the Best Practices for the Most Rewarding Journey, an overview of the general approach that will serve you best as you enter into the experience of reimagining yourself.

Each audio lesson gives  you opportunities to make discoveries that can open new doors in your life. However, if you approach these experiences like an exercise class, you are unlikely to achieve the results you want.

On the flip side, the more you understand the process of creative self-inquiry underlying this entire program, the more you’ll see that each lesson can be mined repeatedly for further insights and growth.

  • Getting good results is great, but understanding how those results are generated will take you even further.

That’s why I’ve included the Essential Takeaways for each movement lesson. My aim  is to demystify Feldenkrais processes so you can make them your own. Here you will find further explanations of questions of biomechanics and the operation of your nervous system, and discussions of the learning strategies and embedded metaphors of each lesson.
  • This program will create larger shifts in your life when you learn how to take ownership of your learning. Key to making this happen is using your own creativity to more fully explore the potential of what I have offered you as a beginning.

That’s why I’ve also included Ideas for Expanding Your Learning. These are suggestions for ways to apply what you learn in each ATM to make further improvements in the rest of your life – both in your everyday movement and in other spheres. These additional practices will help you develop the vital life skills of observation, improvisation, and creative thinking
  • A preview of the Next Steps in Your Journey concludes each chapter. My intention here was to invite you to zoom out and look at the bigger picture by making larger connections between the different movement lessons. Just as importantly, I offer ideas for applying the principles you are learning here to other spheres of your life on a broader scale.
  • At the end of this book there are two appendices designed to show you how to go even deeper into this rich material, should you choose to do so.

First, I offer you a few thoughts on Curiosity, Creativity, and Connection, three essential building blocks for transformational change.

Second, I provide you with blueprints to Make the lessons your own.

Here you will find barebones descriptions of each movement sequence that you can develop in new directions through your own improvisations.

Both appendices invite you to begin studying how you could construct your own original inquiries into movement, the functioning of your nervous system, and the way you construct your self-image.

Although at first it may feel challenging to do this without guidance, you will be developing a vital life skill: how to use strategic improvisation and experimentation to find new relationships to yourself and your world.

Personally, I’m incredibly excited for what you can accomplish as you move through this program. I believe that the variety of resources now at your fingertips will truly make it possible for you to reimagine yourself in order to more closely align your daily activity with your life purpose.

Still, I’d like to be a further resource for you if you ever feel stuck or if you would like further guidance on how to get the most value possible from  this program.

So please don’t hesitate to contact me at sethbdellinger@gmail.com with any thoughts, questions or feedback that you may have.

OK . . . ready to go?

I hope so, because it’s time to dive in – and it’s going to be a deep dive!
